Job Purpose
The role involves performing various tasks related to preparing sites for electrical installations or maintenance and ensuring the safekeeping of tools and equipment.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 8
- Experience:
- Minimum of 6 weeks of relevant experience
- Skills:
- Basic literacy (ability to read and write)
- Effective communication in English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa, and Sesotho
- Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime
- Physically fit and capable of manual labor
Key Responsibilities
- Tool and Equipment Handling
- Selecting appropriate tools and equipment for electrical tasks
- Conducting pre-start checks on tools and equipment
- Site Preparation and Maintenance
- Digging trenches for pole planting and cable laying
- Removing and replacing old poles to prevent power loss and incidents
- Equipment Transportation and Operation
- Transporting necessary machinery and equipment to job sites
- Operating hand-held equipment such as jackhammers to cut through concrete or tarred surfaces
- Storage Management
- Packing and stacking equipment in storerooms for easy access according to classification schedules
