Job Requirements
Candidates applying for the Admin Officer position must meet the following requirements:
- Education: National Senior Certificate, National Diploma (NQF Level 6) / B. Degree (NQF Level 7) in Transport Economics, Transport Management, Public Administration, Office Administration, Public Management, Communication, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar environment.
- Knowledge: Understanding of clerical duties and practices, data capturing, computer operation, and statistical collection. Familiarity with working procedures in the related environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Admin Officer will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of road-based public transport contracts. Key duties include:
- Implementing timeous payment of bus operators.
- Evaluating whether contracted Public Transport Operators fulfill their contractual responsibilities.
- Efficient processing of waybills and claims received from operators.
- Assisting in the review and upgrading of contract administration systems to mitigate risks.
- Addressing variations in service in terms of signed contracts.
- Supervising and monitoring firms to ensure compliance with contracts.
- Receiving and analyzing reports from supervising and monitoring firms.
- Ensuring the availability of funds to meet Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) contractual obligations.
- Monitoring expenditure according to budget for efficient cash flow management.
- Managing people to ensure the development, motivation, and utilization of human resources within the sub-directorate.
- Supervising subordinates by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Capturing and typing statutory reports required from the sub-directorate and providing input into various statutory reports and ad hoc submissions.
