Key Responsibilities
The Civil Engineering Assistant will work under the direction of senior engineers and take on essential tasks such as:
- Collaborating on Multidisciplinary Projects: Assisting with complex engineering projects by supporting senior engineers in planning and execution.

- Wayleave Applications and Servitudes Management: Managing applications and liaising with stakeholders to protect Rand Water’s servitudes.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Coordinating with specialists such as financial analysts, quality assurance experts, and GIS professionals to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Inspection and Supervision: Reviewing technical drawings, inspecting pipeline activities, and maintaining compliance with engineering standards.
- Technical Decision-Making: Making responsible decisions on professional standards and assisting in the development of asset management databases.
- Customer and Stakeholder Communication: Representing Rand Water in discussions with public authorities, developers, and other external stakeholders, and responding to correspondence regarding municipal or consultant applications.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
- A National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc, or BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in civil engineering construction or pipelines.
- Expertise in wayleaves, servitudes, and encroachment.
- Knowledge in the design of pipelines and civil structures is preferred.
