What is Workplace-Based Learning (WPBL)?
Workplace-Based Learning is all about giving students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world job settings. It connects the college, students, and employers to create opportunities that benefit everyone. By working in actual companies, students gain hands-on experience, build their skills, and boost their employability.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing WPBL Opportunities: Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to create workplace opportunities for students.
- Administration: Handle all paperwork and coordination related to workplace-based learning.
- Student Readiness: Facilitate sessions that prepare students for real workplace environments.
- Student Placement: Place academically successful students in suitable companies based on strategic goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate (Matric) or NQF Level 4 Certificate
- At least one year experience in student placement, recruitment, marketing, public relations, or project management
- Knowledge of the TVET sector and SETAs
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work well in a team and facilitate sessions
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
Recommended Qualifications & Experience
- Post-matric qualification in one of the following fields:
- Human Resource Management
- Marketing Management
- Management Assistant
- Public Relations
- Experience in student placement and project coordination
- Knowledge of the TVET environment
- Multilingual candidates will have an advantage
