Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Assistant, you will be involved in:
- Advanced Training:
- Participate in a rigorous program to obtain the MMedVet (Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics) degree.
- Specialize in Clinical Pathology through practical and theoretical training.
- Teaching:
- Provide didactic and practical training to undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students.
- Research:
- Engage in departmental research projects.
- Contribute to publications in veterinary science and Clinical Pathology.
- Clinical Services:
- Offer clinical services at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital and in the surrounding community.
- Provide a 24-hour clinical service when needed.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: BVSc, BVMCh, or an equivalent professional veterinary qualification.
- Registration: Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) or eligibility for registration within a year.
- Experience:
- Two years of veterinary clinical experience, or
- One-year rotating clinical internship in small- or large-animal medicine and surgery.
- A completed CCS year with documented case logs may also qualify.
