Role Summary
As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will provide an effective and efficient industrial relations advisory service. Your expertise will help maintain labor peace through developing and implementing employee relations strategies. You’ll play a critical role in enhancing organizational productivity while aligning with Rand Water’s strategic objectives.
Minimum Requirements
To apply for this role, you must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:
Educational Qualifications
- M + 4 Legal Qualification or an HR equivalent qualification with Labour Law as a major.
- LLB degree is advantageous.
Professional Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a unionized environment.
- A minimum of 3 years of exposure to CCMA/Bargaining Council processes.
- Experience in conciliation, arbitration, and facilitation is a distinct advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strategic thinking and the ability to act at a strategic level.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of labor law, employee relations procedures, CCMA, and Bargaining Council processes.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle conflict positively and constructively.
Primary Duties
In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Strategic Guidance: Provide expert advice on industrial relations and employee relations to internal customers at Rand Water.
- Dispute Representation: Represent the organization in disputes at the CCMA and Bargaining Council.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and implement effective employee relations strategies and policies.
- Disciplinary Hearings: Schedule and oversee disciplinary hearings to ensure procedural compliance.
- Advisory Role: Consult on employee relations requirements, facilitate discussions, and provide counseling where necessary.
- Policy Review: Assist with policy review and drafting to adapt to legislative changes and organizational needs.
- Data Management: Maintain a data repository on the SAP HR system for reporting and trend analysis.
