The University of the Free State (UFS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilitator to join the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Academic Language and Literacy Development unit. This one-year contract position offers a unique opportunity to support and enhance the academic literacy of students through innovative teaching methods.

Duties and Responsibilities
As a Facilitator, you will:
- Facilitate Academic Literacy Course: Conduct an academic literacy course, either online or face-to-face, in English for 4 hours per week (1 group).
- Classroom Assessment: Manage classroom assessment of subject content and marking, in collaboration with the module coordinator.
- Student Assistance: Support students with online components of the literacy course, including the extensive reading programme and the grammar course.
- Record Keeping: Maintain student records for marks, attendance, and other administrative tasks related to facilitation.
- Communication: Ensure effective written and oral communication with students and maintain good communication with the module coordinator and administrative officer.
- Support and Sensitivity: Maintain sensitivity towards students experiencing difficulties.
- Training and Meetings: Attend compulsory training sessions and regular teachers’ meetings, either online or face-to-face.
Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree on NQF level 7.
- Teaching Ability: Capability to work and teach both online and face-to-face.
- Academic Record: A good academic record (please attach).
Recommendations
- TEFL Qualification: TEFL qualification or appropriate post-graduate qualification.
- Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching an English literacy programme.
- Advanced Qualifications: English at third-year level for English classes or an appropriate qualification (e.g., TEFL/ CELTA/ TESOL).
