The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is seeking a diligent and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join its team at the Head Office in Eco Park, Centurion. This permanent position offers a competitive total annual package (CTC) ranging between R217,778.00 and R256,209.00.

Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Fleet Management, the Maintenance Assistant will be entrusted with various tasks, including:
- Maintenance and Repairs
- Installing, repairing, disassembling, and maintaining building fixtures and equipment.
- Performing minor plumbing repairs, such as unblocking toilets and drains.
- Conducting basic repairs on furniture and office equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Performing routine inspections and preventive care for all assets.
- Identifying and mitigating potential hazards in buildings.
- Facility Support
- Preparing canteen and boardrooms for public hearings and meetings.
- Setting up recording equipment for official ICASA gatherings.
- Assisting in asset verification and physical movement of office assets.
- Ensuring storerooms are clean, organized, and safely packed.
- Safety and Compliance
- Assisting with compliance to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conducting facilities risk assessments and ensuring emergency doors are functional and unobstructed.
- Logistics
- Delivering and collecting groceries and other essential items for ICASA offices.
The Maintenance Assistant will also work alongside service providers during maintenance activities to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Requirements
- A Higher Certificate in Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 5).
- Experience
- A minimum of two years’ experience in facilities maintenance, with hands-on expertise in tasks similar to those listed in the responsibilities section.
