Newcastle Municipality Opportunities Available:
1. Contract Cashiers (x3)
Overview:
- Department: Community Services
- Positions Available: Contract Cashiers x3 (Post IDs: COMM1262, COMM1263, COMM1264)
- Remuneration: R204,851.62 per annum (Task Grade 7)
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics or Accounting
- Computer literacy
- Experience: 1-2 years relevant experience
Responsibilities of Contract Cashiers
- Cash Receipting:
- Receive payments from the public for services rendered.
- Communicate with customers and handle specific payment queries.
- Count and verify payments received against amounts due.
- Issue receipts and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Conduct daily balancing and cashing up procedures.
- Assist with public inquiries and maintain office cleanliness and security.
- Compile and maintain registers such as caravan park and picnic areas.
- Cash Reconciliation:
- Reconcile cash received with receipts issued to customers.
- Separate denominations and perform control counting sequences.
- Verify cash totals against receipts and reports.
- Prepare deposit slips for banking and allocate receipts from bank statements.
- Make adjustments to customer accounts for any misallocations.
2. Contract Lifeguards (x5)
Overview:
- Department: Community Services
- Positions Available: Contract Lifeguards x5 (Post IDs: COMM1246, COMM1261, COMM1276, COMM1277, COMM1278)
- Remuneration: R169,436.50 per annum (Task Grade 6)
Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- Valid Lifeguard Certificate – Pool (Annual retest compulsory)
- Valid Level 2 First Aid Certificate
- Experience: 1 year relevant experience
Responsibilities of Contract Lifeguards
- Provide information to pool users regarding safety rules and guidelines.
- Monitor swimmers in the pool and issue warnings for unsafe practices.
- Manage crowds during events and ensure compliance with swimming rules.
- Inspect pool equipment for safety and address any unsafe behaviors.
- Respond to distress calls and perform first aid and rescue operations as needed.
- Coordinate with emergency services for further treatment and transport.
- Ensure public safety and enforce pool regulations effectively.
