Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in the built environment (Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in infrastructure project management, advisory services, or consulting within a project management environment.
- Professional Registration with Built Environment bodies such as ECSA and SACAP.
- Registration as a Pr.CPM with SACPCMP.
- Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Professional Registration with PMI or PRINCE.
- Postgraduate qualification in Project Management.
- Health and Safety qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Project Management Functions:
- Develop project charters and execution plans aligned with project requirements.
- Coordinate and manage deliverables from key stakeholders, including professional service providers and consultants.
- Draft, review, and update project schedules and work plans incorporating milestones, activities, and deliverables.
- Project Coordination and Team Management:
- Act as a primary link with the Programme Manager and client representatives, reviewing team deliverables before client submission.
- Coordinate efforts of all project stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and labor.
- Foster team cohesion and commitment to project goals.
- Project Control on Cost, Time, and Quality:
- Implement measures to control costs, time, and quality.
- Conduct regular status meetings with principal agent teams.
- Perform periodic inspection visits at project construction sites.
- Monitor adherence to project schedules and milestones.
- Successfully complete projects within specified timeframes, budgets, and quality standards.
- Project Communication and Reporting:
- Establish effective communication channels for timely feedback to management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Issue site meeting minutes and action plans.
- Prepare monthly and weekly project progress reports for stakeholders.
- Conduct project close-out reviews.
- Manage project communications in alignment with agreed channels and timelines.
- Contract Management:
- Manage contracts in accordance with agreement provisions, monitoring performance and timelines.
- Identify and escalate contract concerns to legal, technical, and finance teams, proposing resolutions aligned with contractual obligations.
- Measure progress against contract performance metrics.
- Issue contract instructions per contractual conditions, consulting with legal experts.
- Project Commissioning:
- Verify commissioning and transfer of new assets.
- Ensure availability of site handover documentation.
- Facilitate submission of as-built drawings and user specifications as required.
- Manage commissioning process, handover, and client sign-off.
- Program Health, Safety, and Environmental Quality:
- Implement Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act guidelines and audit recommendations within project environments.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with project Environmental Approval (EA) conditions.
- Promote a safety culture, advocating proactive health and safety interventions.
- Control, manage, and follow up on incidents effectively.
- Advise and assess contractor compliance with approved safety plans.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Develop stakeholder management plans, identifying critical stakeholders essential to project success.
- Implement effective project governance systems internally and externally.
