The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective administration of the entity, with a strong emphasis on good corporate governance and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. This role is critical in ensuring that Board and Executive Committee decisions are executed in the best interest of the company.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Qualification: Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Law/LLB or equivalent.
- Preferred Qualification: MBA or equivalent in Applied Corporate Governance.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a corporate secretariat environment, with at least three (3) years at a managerial level.
- Expertise: Extensive experience in corporate governance, compliance, and understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks affecting public entities.

Key Performance Areas
Functional Outputs/Actions
- Legal and Administrative Support
- Provide sound legal and administrative advice to the Board, ensuring smooth transformation and implementation of Board decisions within AgriSETA’s operations.
- Support the Board and its committees in line with corporate governance, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Compliance Management
- Ensure Board compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Companies Act, PFMA, SDA Act, and King IV.
- Oversee the management of compliance processes within the entity, ensuring all activities align with legal and regulatory standards.
- Resource Management and Leadership
- Effectively manage the resources within the unit, including budget, finances, and assets.
- Lead the team within the Company Secretariat Office to ensure organizational goals are met.
- Board Governance and Communication
- Oversee the induction and continuous training of Board members.
- Ensure the Board’s decisions are communicated clearly and monitored for progress.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate AgriSETA’s governance activities to ensure consistency and alignment with legislation.
- Policy Development and Monitoring
- Draft and implement Company Secretariat policies and procedures, reviewing them annually for relevance and compliance.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and corporate governance developments, briefing the Board on any changes that may impact operations.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Department of Higher Education Science and Technology (DHEST), National Treasury (NT), Auditor General South Africa (AGSA), and other relevant entities.
- People Management
- Lead the Company Secretariat function, motivating the team to achieve organizational strategies and objectives.
Governance
- Promote good governance and foster a culture of compliance and commitment within AgriSETA.
Financial Management
- Manage the budget and expenditures in line with National Treasury Regulations (NTR) and ensure compliance with Section 51 of the PFMA to prevent fruitless, wasteful, and irregular expenditure.
