Writing Centre Practitioner Position Overview
- Title: Writing Centre Practitioners (P9)

- Contract Duration: Two-Year Fixed Term

As a Writing Centre Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the academic writing skills of both staff and students, fostering a culture of academic excellence, and supporting MUT’s mission of innovation and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Development:
Plan, manage, and implement Writing Centre programmes designed to improve academic writing. - Skill Development:
Facilitate the enhancement of academic writing competencies among students and staff. - Research and Collaboration:
Conduct research on language and academic literacies and collaborate with lecturers to develop discipline-specific writing content. - Support Services:
Actively participate in staff and student support initiatives within the TLDC and other departments. - Material Design:
Develop and deliver learning materials focused on writing pedagogies.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education:
An Honours degree or equivalent, preferably with a specialization in Linguistics or Language Education. - Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience working in a Post-School Education and Training (PSET) environment.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a Writing Centre.
Recommendations
- A Master’s degree is highly recommended and will be an advantage.
Competencies
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Advanced computing skills, particularly in MS Office.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Excellent report writing abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
