Key Responsibilities
As an Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in evaluating capital projects that shape South Africa’s infrastructure and economic landscape. Your duties will include:
1. Appraisal Analysis and Advice
- Prepare detailed appraisal reports on infrastructure projects, assessing their financial, economic, environmental, and social impacts.
- Use quantitative models to analyze infrastructure proposals.
- Provide expert recommendations on project configurations, costing, funding, and procurement.
- Propose innovative and efficient infrastructure delivery methods.
2. Research and Best Practice Development
- Conduct in-depth research on infrastructure development trends, sectoral issues, and technological innovations.
- Develop tools and methodologies to enhance appraisal practices.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing platforms and capacity-building initiatives.
3. Policy Development and Monitoring
- Provide policy advice and insights on infrastructure-related developments.
- Analyze infrastructure project prioritization to maximize societal and economic benefits.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of infrastructure-related indicators for benchmarking and impact analysis.
4. Project Management
- Draft project reports and adhere to effective project management plans.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and report on project progress.
- Prepare close-out reports upon project completion.
- Represent GTAC in forums and discussions related to infrastructure development.
Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Postgraduate degree (NQF Level 8) in Economics or Development Finance. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Experience: 4–6 years in investment appraisal, economic research, or a related field.
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of applied microeconomics.
- Knowledge of economic and social infrastructure sectors.
- Intermediate financial modeling skills.
- Research, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
- Awareness of public sector policies and relevant legislative frameworks.
