Job Advert Summary
CCBR is looking for suitably qualified individuals to assume the responsibilities of enrolled study nurses for research projects implemented at the Sweetwaters office. The successful candidates will be assigned to multi-year projects to implement and evaluate health interventions targeting identified population groups within the designated communities.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- Registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including rapid testing, blood specimen collection, and vaccine administration
- Fluency in isiZulu and English
- Relevant knowledge of HIV/AIDS
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year, Code E or similar, unendorsed driver’s license
- Research experience
- Good clinical practice certification
- Availability within 2 weeks from the date of appointment
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience with HIV testing and counseling
- Exposure to CD4 and Viral Load result interpretation and feedback
- Experience with data collection on mobile devices
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work accurately, independently, and as part of a team
- Willingness to work after hours, over weekends, and in rural communities
Key Performance Areas
The successful candidate for the Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct point-of-care assessments and rapid assays from fingerprick
- Facilitate sputum collection and naso-pharyngeal specimen collection from participants
- Conduct venous blood draws on participants
- Ensure bio-hazardous waste is disposed of according to waste management guidelines
- Ensure safe storage of collected specimens
- Adhere to universal precautions during and after blood draws
- Provide clients with test results in the field
- Maintain accurate record keeping of client information
- Perform any other activities necessary for the effective and productive functioning of the team
Additional Responsibilities:
- Mobilize participants for counseling and testing
- Recruit and screen participants for the study
