1. Invasive Alien Species Programme Area Manager (2 Positions)
- Fixed Term Contract: 2 Years, 3 Months
- Location: Mtubatuba and Midmar Nature Reserve
- Total Remuneration Package: R 552 081 per annum
Purpose of the Job:
The role of the Invasive Alien Species Programme Area Manager is to effectively plan, implement, manage, monitor, and evaluate the invasive alien species within the designated region while ensuring that the objectives of Ezemvelo and the funder are met.
Qualifications Required:
- National Diploma in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry, or Environmental Management).
- A Degree in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry, or Environmental Management) will be an added advantage.
- Valid Code B Driver’s License.
Experience Required:
- A minimum of 5 years of invasive alien species programme management experience.
- At least 3 years in a management role.
Key Performance Areas:
- Implement invasive alien species monitoring, control, and eradication plans for protected areas within the region.
- Manage and oversee the implementation of the Invasive Alien Species Programme.
- Develop annual plans and manage the budget effectively.
- Provide technical advice on operations and ensure regional compliance with legislation such as EPWP and the OHS Act.
- Conduct site inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate and organize field visits and audits for stakeholders.
- Ensure procurement of correct protective clothing, equipment, and herbicides.
- Perform all necessary administrative functions and project management duties.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the project’s progress.
Key Competencies Required:
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and systems.
- Excellent understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strategic planning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently, or as part of a team.

Purpose of the Job:
To ensure effective and efficient financial management within the Invasive Alien Species Programme and compliance with the financial policies and procedures of the organization. The role also includes other administrative responsibilities to support the programme’s operations.
Qualifications Required:
- A Certificate in Financial Management, Business Administration, or Public Management with a Finance Module (NQF 5).
- A Three-Year Diploma (NQF 6) relevant qualification will be an added advantage.
- Valid Code B Driver’s License.
Experience Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in invasive alien species programme administration.
- Experience in financial administration processes, SAP proficiency, and budget planning.
Key Performance Areas:
- Provide administrative support to the Invasive Alien Species Programme.
- Record and communicate meeting minutes and decisions.
- Organize logistics for meetings, workshops, and field visits.
- Oversee procurement and manage office supplies and asset registers.
- Support the Regional Manager with budget administration and donor funding.
- Monitor project budgets, prepare financial reports, and maintain accurate records.

Key Competencies Required:

Purpose of the Job:
To efficiently and effectively monitor invasive alien species clearing operations in protected areas, manage budgets, and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Qualifications Required:
- National Diploma in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry, or Environmental Management).
- Degree in Natural Sciences (Conservation, Forestry, or Environmental Management) will be an added advantage.
- Valid Code B Driver’s License.
Experience Required:
- 3 years of invasive alien species programme management experience is required.
- 4 years of experience working in a Big Five Game Reserve will be advantageous.
Key Performance Areas:
- Facilitate and coordinate the development of invasive alien plant clearing plans.
- Monitor the implementation of clearing operations as per the Annual Plan of Operations (APO).
- Ensure compliance with project management standards and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor work quality and progress.
- Produce monthly work plans and reports.
- Oversee the procurement and administration processes for the programme.
- Provide ongoing training to field teams.
Key Competencies Required:
- Understanding of various environmental prescripts (e.g., NEMBA, CARA & AIS Regulations).
- Proficient in project management, financial skills, and contract management.
