Role Description:
The Family Advocate plays a crucial role in the justice system, primarily focused on protecting the best interests of minor children in family law disputes. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing all duties and functions of the Family Advocate in line with the applicable laws.
- Endorsing settlement agreements or providing recommendations on them.
- Conducting inquiries and evaluations to determine the best interest of the child using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques.
- Handling Hague matters and dealing with circuit courts within the province, ensuring that international child custody disputes are resolved according to legal procedures.
Job Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: An LLB Degree or a recognized four-year legal qualification.
- Professional Qualification: You must be an admitted Advocate with the right to appear in the High Court of South Africa.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of post-qualification litigation experience.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is essential.
Skills and Competencies:
The Family Advocate will need a blend of legal expertise and personal skills to be successful in this role. Key competencies include:
