About the Grants and Projects Manager Role
The Grants and Projects Manager will oversee the management of both discretionary and mandatory grants, ensuring smooth operations and compliance. This role also includes stakeholder engagement, budget management, and reporting against Annual Performance Plan (APP) targets.
Key Performance Areas
- Grants Management: Handle discretionary and mandatory grants, including inter-SETA transfers.
- Project Oversight: Ensure effective management of discretionary grants projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide support and foster strong communication channels.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets, commitment schedules, and financial reporting.
- Internal Processes: Implement and monitor internal controls and reporting mechanisms.
- People Management: Lead and support a team to achieve performance goals.
- Systems Management: Manage grants information systems for data-driven decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- NQF Level 7 in Finance, Project Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, HR Management/Development, or ODETDP.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, Public Management & Governance, or Auditing.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of operational experience in mandatory or discretionary grants management, with at least 2 years at a supervisory level.
- Strong financial and administrative skills in grants management will be an advantage.

- Planning and organization, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication (oral and written).
- Ethics, integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the Skills Development Act, QCTO, and NAMB processes.
- Technical Abilities:
- Financial skills, data interpretation, and innovative problem-solving.
