    About the Internship Programme

    The Internship Programme at the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of transportation management, public administration, and office management. This 24-month program is structured to help interns gain practical knowledge and skills that are crucial for building a successful career in the public sector.

    Requirements

    To qualify for the Department of Roads and Transport Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Requirements:
      • Applicants must possess an N6 Certificate, National Diploma, or Degree in one of the following fields:
        • Transport Management
        • Transportation Management
        • Public Management
        • Governance
        • Office Management & Technology
        • Public Administration
        • Administration
    2. Personal Requirements:
      • Must be a South African citizen.
      • Unemployed and between the ages of 18 and 35.
      • Must not have participated in any other internship programme within the Republic of South Africa.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    As an intern, you will be required to:

    • Complete all tasks assigned in relation to your post.
    • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of transportation projects.
    • Support the directorate in administrative duties and ensure compliance with departmental policies.
    • Engage with various stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project management.

    4. Equity and Representation: The department aims to promote representation (race, gender, and disability) in the Public Service through the filling of this post. Preference will be given to candidates whose appointment will promote representation and fulfill the numeric targets as outlined in the Employment Equity Plan.
    5. SAQA Evaluation: Applicants with foreign qualifications must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
