Purpose of the Role:
The Onsite Coordinator will oversee and manage the activities of on-site contractors and inspectors to ensure the effective supply and maintenance of water tankers and chemical toilets, particularly in informal sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and schedule monthly work plans with contractors for the supply and upkeep of water tankers and chemical toilets/pit latrines.
- Dispatch daily work orders based on monthly plans and any deviations or special functions.
- Audits and Quality Control:
- Conduct ad-hoc audits to ensure compliance with work plans and assess the quality of completed work.
- Implement a planned maintenance program for sampling and cleaning of water tankers once a month.

The Artisan Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of minor plant and yellow machinery. The role ensures that all equipment is in good working condition and available for use by Johannesburg Water departments. Flexibility for standby and overtime work is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Documentation:
- Submit job cards daily.
- Complete check sheets and overtime sheets correctly before the end of each shift.
- Fill out Vehicle Inspection sheets and Logbooks daily and submit them weekly to the Foreman or Operations Manager.
- Submit petrol slips monthly in accordance with Johannesburg Water Vehicle Policy.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Service and repair minor plant equipment, including chain saws, lawnmowers, brush cutters, weed eaters, compactors, concrete mixers, blowers, vibrating plates, portable pumps, generators, and compressors.
- Maintain and repair stationary diesel engines at sewer and water pump stations, including standby generators.
- Service and repair mobile plant such as water tanks, trailers, jetting machines, bucket machines, welding machines, generators, compressors, and lighting plant.
- Ensure the roadworthiness of plant and equipment under your control.
- Maintain, repair, and service forklifts and TLB (Back Actor) according to manufacturer and Johannesburg Water specifications.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce workplace safety in compliance with OHASA, SANS, and Johannesburg Water safety procedures.
- Use all provided protective equipment.
- Report any machinery abuse to the Operations Manager promptly.
- Conduct monthly checks on tools and equipment to ensure compliance with OHASA.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Liaise with suppliers and user departments.
- Advise user departments on the safe operation and use of machinery.
