Requirements for the Position
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Education: A three-year Diploma or Degree in Policing is required. Completion of a Detective Learning Programme or certification in Resolving of Crime will be advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of three years’ investigative experience is essential.
- Licenses and Clearances: A valid driver’s license is mandatory. Applicants must also have no criminal record or previous convictions.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the gambling industry and its governing legislation.
- Knowledge of police administration procedures.
- Expertise in cyber or forensic investigations.
- Proficiency in administration and case file management.
- Effective communication and public relations skills.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Ability to work under pressure and extended hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Investigating Illegal Gambling Activities: Conducting thorough investigations into unlawful gambling practices across the province.
- Docket Management: Opening and managing case dockets, including attending court proceedings.
- Record-Keeping: Maintaining a robust informer network system and recording relevant information.
- Exhibit Handling: Safeguarding and managing evidence in compliance with law enforcement standards.
- Collaboration: Assisting other law enforcement agencies in registering and managing case files.
- Court Proceedings: Providing testimony in court to support gambling-related cases.
- Case Administration: Managing and organizing case files with accuracy and attention to detail.
