Requirements
To qualify for these positions, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Educational Background: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and at least one African language.
- Advantageous Experience:
- Experience working in HIV/AIDS programs.
- A valid certificate in HIV counselling and testing.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Applicants with the following additional competencies will have an advantage:
- Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency is essential.
- Counselling Skills: Previous experience or training in basic counselling is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will undertake a range of duties focused on HIV prevention and health promotion, including:
- HIV Testing Services (HTS):
- Conducting HTS services, including index tracing within workplaces and at community levels.
- Offering services to pregnant women and supporting HIV prevention initiatives.
- Counselling and Education:
- Providing risk reduction counselling related to HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Screening and making referrals for TB and STIs.
- HIV Testing Procedures:
- Obtaining informed and written consent for HIV testing, TB screening, and STI screening.
- Performing finger-prick capillary blood collection for rapid HIV testing.
- Data and Reporting:
- Documenting and reconciling onsite services daily.
- Submitting data collected during outreach campaigns as per the prescribed standard operating procedures.
- Promotion of Health Services:
- Advocating for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC).
- Promoting lubricant distribution as a method of HIV prevention.
