Qualifications:
- Degree in Library & Information Science or a Postgraduate Diploma/B Tech in Library & Information Science.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in an Academic Library, preferably in a Higher Education setting.
- Experience in a Health or Medical library environment is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Library Operations: Oversee all operations within the Centre library.
- Orientation: Assist in orienting new staff and students on library systems and databases.
- Procedures: Develop and review procedures for lending, returning, and maintaining library materials.
- Customer Service: Manage and resolve billing, patron information, and customer service issues.
- Research Assistance: Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and other patrons.
- Library Space Management: Manage and assess library space, plan and oversee rearrangements of collections.
- Academic Liaison: Facilitate communication between Library services and faculty/departments.
- Statistics: Maintain statistics on the use of physical collections.
- Shelf Reading and Stock-Taking: Participate in these activities as required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SIERRA Circulation Module and MS Office.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse university community.
- People Management: Experience in managing people and resources.
- Numerical Skills: Good numerical and statistical abilities.
