Main Purpose of the Role
The Production Controller will evaluate SABC-funded production budgets line by line against pricing standards and industry norms. They will work closely with production teams to manage resources optimally and ensure that production operations run smoothly. Key Responsibilities
- Development and Implementation of the Production Management Strategy:
- Contribute to the development of the Production Management Strategy.

- Production Budget Management:
- Finalize production budgets and close projects within the approved timelines.
- Eliminate wasteful expenditure and ensure alignment of production cash flow to the production schedule.
- Negotiate volume deals with suppliers to maximize the allocated production budget.
- Production Process Optimization:
- Oversee the effective management of production control processes to prevent disruptions.
- Maintain compliance with the provisions of the production agreement, ensuring productions are well managed and risks are mitigated.

- Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma (NQF 7/ NQF6) in Film and Television Production, Communication, Financial/Cost Accounting, Business Management, or any other related equivalent qualifications.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the broadcasting production environment with knowledge in production management, line producing, production accounting, or production budgeting.
- At least 2 years in production accounting with experience in various genres such as fiction, documentary, reality TV, and more.
- Additional Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Internal auditing and business planning experience.
- Strong project management capabilities.
