Qualifications and Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting.
- Experience: 2-3 years in a finance role.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Attributes: Strong numeracy and analytical skills, with a focus on accountability and accuracy in handling financial data.
Knowledge and Skills
- Financial Accounting: Understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Regulations: Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, and relevant guidelines.
- Budgeting and Reporting: Knowledge of public entity budgeting, reporting processes, and government accounting standards (GRAP).
- Compliance: Awareness of anti-corruption strategies and fraud prevention measures in the public service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Financial Management
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial proposals.
- Create variance analysis reports to support project management.
- Provide technical support for grant submissions and budget preparations.
- Contribute to project resource mobilization efforts.
- Review and ensure completeness of project invoices and payments.
- Develop and maintain a system for information security and access.
- Prepare reconciliations for debtors and creditors.
- Verify the validity and accuracy of all project transactions.
- Maintain records for creditors and debtors.
- Coordinate budgeting processes and ensure alignment with project work plans.
- Track and monitor project expenditure and budget adherence.
2. Governance and Reporting
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with office policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure adherence to donor compliance requirements in financial reporting.
- Identify and manage project financial risks.
- Act as the primary contact for auditors regarding specific project audits and provide necessary documentation.
