About the Role
The Resource Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining all MPW equipment, ensuring it meets safety and performance standards. The role requires collaboration with the front-of-house (FOH) unit and the IT department to ensure the efficient upkeep of equipment, building facilities, and computerised tools.
This position is critical to maintaining the functionality of the MPW, ensuring timely repair and replacement of damaged equipment, and overseeing the health and safety protocols for equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Management and Maintenance
- Allocate and distribute equipment to students, staff, and MPW members.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to meet MPW and safety standards.
- Plan and coordinate timely repairs of damaged or faulty equipment.
- Ensure that equipment remains in safe working condition.
- Maintain a detailed log of repair activities.
- Keep a comprehensive record of all received and distributed equipment.
- Collaborate with the IT department to manage computerised equipment needs.
2. Equipment Sourcing and Procurement
- Recommend specifications for new equipment purchases.
- Act as the point of contact for equipment sourcing, liaising with the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team.
- Review quotations from SCM, making recommendations for equipment purchases.
- Submit requests for equipment approval after evaluating quotations.
3. Facilities Management
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on MPW facilities.
- Recommend necessary repairs or maintenance to keep the facilities in good working condition.
- Collaborate with the Front-of-House (FOH) team to ensure that any reported defects in the facilities are addressed.
- Maintain documentation for facilities maintenance and assessments.
- Act as the liaison between the MPW and cleaning services, coordinating with the MTF FOH office.
4. Health and Safety Oversight
- Oversee the safety measures related to MPW equipment and liaise with security services.
- Attend Health and Safety training to represent the MPW in the Health and Safety Committee.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across the department.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate (Matric).
- A Photography Certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in equipment management.
- Knowledge and experience in photography equipment and related technology are required.
