Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Social Work Policy Developer include:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining social work policies.
- Managing the Uniform Funding Cycle (UFC) and overseeing the NPO funding process.
- Monitoring family services in alignment with the White Paper on Families.
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Handling administrative tasks and higher-level administrative functions.
- Monitoring compliance of NPOs with signed Transfer Payment Agreements (TPA) and legislative norms.
- Responding promptly to complaints or concerns about NPOs or issues raised by programs or authorities.
- Overseeing registration and accreditation of facilities, shelters, drop-in centres, and child-headed households in accordance with relevant laws.
- Monitoring and accrediting program-specific initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A formal tertiary qualification in Social Work (e.g., Bachelor of Social Work), enabling professional registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Compulsory registration with the SACSSP as a Social Worker.
- A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in social work after registering with the SACSSP.
- A valid Code B (or higher) driver’s license.
Salary and Benefits
This position is graded on an Occupation-Specific Dispensation (OSD) and offers the following remuneration packages:
- Grade 1: R 429,573 – R 487,650 per annum.
- Grade 2: R 507,198 – R 687,918 per annum.
These cost-to-employer packages include all service benefits, such as basic salary, 13th cheque, medical aid, housing assistance, and pension fund contributions.
