About The South African Board for Sheriff
The SABFS is responsible for maintaining the esteem, enhancing the status, and improving the standard of training and functions performed by sheriffs to enhance access to justice. The organization plays a pivotal role in ensuring that sheriffs across South Africa are well-trained, professional, and capable of upholding the law and assisting in the judicial process.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Tertiary qualification (B Degree or equivalent) in HR Development or a similar field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience as a Training Officer (middle management level).
- Certifications: Registered assessor and moderator.
- Facilitator: Registered Skills Development Facilitator with good knowledge of SAQA, QTCO, SETA structures, and the Skills Development Act (SDA).
- Additional Skills: Experience in developing occupational qualifications, E-learning, budgeting, and proposal writing. Instructional design experience is beneficial.
Key Performance Areas
- Develop Formal Qualifications: Assist in developing formal qualifications for the sheriffs’ profession.
- Create Training Courses: Develop internal, needs-based training courses for sheriffs.
- Coordinate Training Team: Manage the SABFS training team, including material developers, facilitators, assessors, moderators, and administrators.
- Oversee Training Logistics: Coordinate all training interventions and logistics across provinces.
- Project Proposals: Write project proposals with budgets for submission to the SABFS.
- Project Management: Scope, plan, create, and maintain project plans and schedules for training initiatives.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative and reporting tasks associated with the function.
- E-Learning Initiatives: Develop and lead e-learning and online training initiatives.
- Skills Plans and Reports: Compile and submit Work Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR) to SASSETA annually.

- Facilitation Methodology: Theoretical understanding of facilitation methodology.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Training Material Development: Ability to write effective training material.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder communication and relationship management skills.
- Organizational Skills: Good organizational understanding to effectively administer products and services.
- Budget Management: Budget management and tracking skills.
- Innovation: Innovative and proactive in developing skills development initiatives.
- Knowledge Management: Knowledge management and policy development experience.
- Skills Development Guidance: Provide guidance on skills development direction for the Board.
- Strategic Analysis: Strategic analysis and systems knowledge.
