Key Responsibilities
The selected candidates will provide administrative and legal support to the litigation unit. Responsibilities include:
- Administrative Support:
- Ensure efficient administrative services for the litigation unit.
- Maintain an effective filing system for all legal documentation.
- Coordination and Liaison:
- Communicate with user departments to prepare for consultations.
- Coordinate with departments to collect information required for litigation cases.
- Schedule and organize consultation meetings, including taking minutes.
- Document Preparation:
- Prepare responses to correspondence from statutory bodies such as the Office of the Public Protector and the South African Human Rights Council.
- Draft letters of demand and other communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Financial Administration:
- Scrutinize invoices with the Assistant Manager: Litigation to verify rates and tariffs align with agreements.
- Monitor financial documentation accuracy.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Manage correspondence and prepare updates for both internal and external parties.
Minimum Requirements for the Litigation Officer Role
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- A three-year Diploma in Law or an NQF Level 6 equivalent qualification.
- Experience:
- At least three (3) years of professional experience working in a law firm, as a legal advisor, or as a paralegal.
- Additional Competencies:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Knowledge of legal procedures and compliance.
