Role Overview
The primary responsibility of the Procurement Practitioner is to coordinate and manage purchasing and procurement activities within the agency. Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in public sector procurement processes and a solid understanding of statutory frameworks such as the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Procuring goods and services up to the value of R1 million.
- Evaluating and recommending purchases in accordance with the Preferential Procurement Policy Act (PPPFA).
- Collaborating with end-user departments to understand and meet specific requirements and priorities.
- Providing administrative support to bid specification, evaluation, and adjudication committees.
- Ensuring the proper safekeeping of all procurement-related documentation.
- Receiving and verifying goods against purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Competency Requirements
Technical Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge of Treasury Regulations and PFMA.
- Expertise in supply chain management policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA), Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Act, and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMME) Development Strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of tender committee functions.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.

Qualification and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- NQF Level 6 qualification in Supply Chain Management or an equivalent field.

Experience:
- A minimum of three years’ experience in supply chain management is required.
