Key Responsibilities
The Admin Clerk position comes with a variety of responsibilities that will help ensure the smooth running of the finance and administrative functions. Some of the key tasks include:
- Managing petty cash: Responsible for the safekeeping, replenishment, and reconciliation of petty cash, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Processing payments: Handling creditor invoices, processing payments, and maintaining up-to-date debtor and creditor records.
- International payments: Managing payments to international creditors and licenses.
- Accounting system entries: Capturing creditor payments and debtor receipts in the accounting system and managing cash book, creditors ledger, and general ledger.
- Bank reconciliations: Performing monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Filing system: Ensuring an accurate and effective filing system for all accounting records.
- Asset management: Supporting the SALB’s Asset Management processes.
- Support during audits: Assisting with internal and external audit processes by retrieving necessary documentation and supporting the auditing team.
- General financial support: Assisting with various financial management matters to keep the SALB’s finances in order.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Admin Clerk role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A completed diploma or degree (NQF-6 or higher) in Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, or a related financial field.
- Experience: At least two years of work experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Knowledge: A good understanding of key financial regulations and standards such as PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, GRAP, and IFRS.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial accounting systems and the ability to perform the full accounting function up to Trial Balance.
Additional Competencies and Skills
The following skills and experience will be advantageous:
- Experience working in a financial role within the Public Sector.
- Proficiency in SAGE PASTEL Accounting System.
- Experience in completing a set of Annual Financial Statements for a public sector organization.
- Knowledge of the POPI Act and PAIA.
- Exposure to Internal and External Audit Processes within the government sector.
- Understanding of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Acts and Prescripts, PPPFA, and BBBEE regulatory prescripts.
Additionally, you should possess the following personal and professional attributes:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal), particularly in English.
- Strong financial and general administration skills.
- Proficiency in Ms Office Suite with a focus on Excel.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage financial records effectively.
Remuneration Package
The position offers a competitive annual salary of R196,746 per annum. This salary excludes the value of other remunerative benefits that come with working at the South African Library for the Blind.
