Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Director: School Sport Programmes, you will be responsible for the following:
- Promote Curriculum Development: Support the development of school sports by promoting curriculum-based sports programmes, including various codes and genres. This involves collaborating with schools to ensure effective sport participation and development.
- Supervise Implementation: Oversee the execution of school sport lesson plans, ensuring they align with established codes and genres, and support the growth of school sports participation.
- Programme Management: Manage the School Sport Programme by coordinating activities such as training sessions, equipment procurement, and ensuring adherence to procedural guidelines.
- Data Management and Reporting: Compile and maintain comprehensive records of participant statistics and track individual development within the programme. Ensure all reports are collated accurately and submitted promptly.
- Managerial Functions: Perform various managerial duties, including overseeing staff involved in the programme, budgeting, and coordinating with stakeholders to enhance the programme’s effectiveness.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A three-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) or higher.
- A minimum of five years of relevant administrative experience.

Competencies and Skills
The ideal candidate should possess the following competencies and skills:
- Knowledge: Understanding of neighbouring school programmes, school sport activities, recreation-based activities, and relevant school sport policies and regulations. Familiarity with the National Sport and Recreation Plan and public service statutory prescripts.
- Skills: Strong numeracy and literacy skills, proven computer literacy, project management, presentation, networking, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills to manage various stakeholders effectively.
