Role Responsibilities
As an Artisan Mechanical Engineer, you will be a crucial part of the team responsible for ensuring the functionality and safety of mechanical equipment at sewerage pump stations and treatment plants. Your tasks will include:
- Pre-Work Coordination: Interpreting and coordinating specific site requirements concerning installation, repairs, and maintenance.
- Fault Finding and Repairs: Identifying and rectifying mechanical faults in sewerage pump stations and water treatment facilities.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance to enhance the reliability and availability of mechanical equipment, focusing on preventing potential breakdowns.
- Mechanical Repairs and Overhauls: Engaging in the repair, overhaul, installation, testing, and inspection of mechanical assets to ensure optimal operation within water treatment facilities.
- Record Keeping: Ensuring accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance activities to monitor productivity, time, and material usage efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and other relevant safety regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all activities comply with organizational policies and procedures, including ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards, to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this Artisan Mechanical Engineer role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Trade Certificate: A certified qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Fitter, or Millwright.
- Physical Fitness: Candidates must be physically fit and able-bodied to perform duties that may require working in challenging conditions.
- Apprenticeship Experience: A minimum of three years of apprenticeship experience or qualification through Section 26D.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code B driver’s license is mandatory.
- Work Conditions: Willingness to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces.
