Minimum Requirements
To apply for the Clinical Nurse Practitioner position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Basic Nursing Qualification:
A Diploma or Degree in Nursing (R425) or an equivalent qualification that allows you to register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. - Post-Basic Qualification:
A post-basic nursing qualification (Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment: Treatment and Care, R48), accredited by SANC, with a duration of at least one year. - Experience Requirements:
- Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years of appropriate experience, with at least 10 years in the specialty of Clinical Nursing Science after obtaining the post-basic qualification.
- Additional Skills and Competencies:
- BANC & PACK training or experience
- Problem-solving, report writing, and liaison skills
- Basic computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Driver’s License:
A valid Code B/EB driver’s license and the willingness to travel and work in different facilities within the sub-district. This includes being prepared to work in mobile clinics within the community, under the Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) concept.
Job Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Management of Burden of Disease: Implement and manage comprehensive health programs that address the burden of disease within the community.
- Health Promotion and Prevention: Plan and conduct health promotion activities in both healthcare facilities and the surrounding communities.
- Community Linkage: Establish strong connections with community structures and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) to enhance service delivery.
- Human Resources and Financial Management: Assist with the management of staff, financial resources, and equipment.
- Report Writing: Collect health data, compile reports, and submit them in a timely manner.
- Support Services Management: Oversee the strategy, infrastructure, equipment, and health support required for the facility.
