Clinical Nurse Practitioner Position Details

Minimum Appointment Requirements
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent, plus a basic R425 qualification in General Nursing (Degree/Diploma) eligible for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Experience:
- Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience post-registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years of nursing experience post-registration as a Professional Nurse, with at least 10 years of experience following a 1-year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care.
- Certification: Proof of current registration with SANC (2024 receipt).
- Documentation: A certified copy of the ID, Curriculum Vitae, original or certified copies of certificates of service, and proof of current and previous work experience (endorsed by the Human Resource Office).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
The successful candidates should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, including the Nursing Acts, Mental Health Act, OH&S Act, and more.
- Familiarity with nursing care processes and procedures.
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles, Patients’ Rights Charter, and the Labour Relations Act.
- Strong report-writing, time management, communication, coordination, and planning skills.
- Sound supervisory and team-building abilities.
- Ability to assist in policy formulation and implementation related to patient care.
Key Performance Areas
As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, you will:
- Provide quality clinical nursing care in line with the standards set for a Primary Health Care facility.
- Promote nursing care standards and ensure quality service delivery at the clinic.
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to ethical and legal nursing practices.
- Manage your workload and that of junior staff to deliver efficient nursing services.
- Build and maintain professional relationships to enhance service delivery.
- Oversee basic patient needs, such as nutrition, oxygen, electrolyte balance, and safe clinical environments.
- Administer prescribed medications and perform clinical interventions to clients.
- Encourage and support the development of staff and assist patients in fostering self-care.
- Ensure proper utilization and safekeeping of essential medical and pharmaceutical resources.
