Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma / Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Cost and Management
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Local Government, Public Service Sector, or Private Sector
- Valid driver’s licence
- No criminal record
- Profound understanding of Payroll and HR Administration
- Familiarity with National Treasury Circulars and implementation of relevant Collective Agreements
Competencies
- Precision: Ensure that every aspect of payroll processing is handled with meticulous accuracy.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all payroll transactions and employee data.
- Quality Control: Implement and adhere to robust quality control processes to minimize mistakes and improve overall payroll accuracy.
- Software Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong command of industry-standard payroll software such as VIP Payroll, Sage, or similar systems.
- System Management: Efficiently manage and navigate the payroll software to input data, run payroll cycles, generate reports, and handle complex payroll tasks.
Key Performance Areas
- Accuracy and Integrity: Ensure that all payroll data entered into the system is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- System Updates: Regularly update the payroll system to reflect changes in employee status, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments.
- Data Security: Implement and adhere to stringent data security measures to protect sensitive payroll information from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Overtime Management: Accurately calculate and process overtime payments based on employee timesheets and attendance records.
- Salary Adjustments: Manage and process salary increases, ensuring they are applied correctly and reflected in the payroll system. This includes adjusting for annual raises, merit-based increases, and other salary adjustments as approved by management.
- Allowance Processing: Calculate and disburse various allowances such as standby, housing, and shift/night out allowances in accordance with the SALGBC collective agreement.
