Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 Certificate
- Qualifications: A relevant 3-year post-matric qualification with financial accounting as a major subject
- Certifications: Project Management Certificate
- Skills: Computer literacy in MS Office
- License: Valid Driver’s License
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in Municipal Finance
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Ability to perform financial work according to prescribed standards and norms
- Knowledge of local government legislation, including the Municipal Systems Act (MSA) and Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA)
Key Performance Areas:
- Prepare and submit required information to Statistics South Africa
- Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements and the investment register
- Prepare Monthly Management Accounts to monitor operating spending patterns and capital project implementation
- Conduct monthly comparative statistical analyses of financial numbers, calculate financial ratios, and report on unusual variances
- Prepare reports on capital and operating grant funding
- Assist in the preparation of Annual and Monthly Financial Statements
- Submit National Treasury Return Forms as prescribed
- Implement the Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts in line with National Treasury and MFMA reforms
- Assist in departmental meetings to discuss budget variances and spending patterns
- Review and approve journal entries to ensure accuracy
