Key Responsibilities
The Registrar will be responsible for several critical functions:
1. Provision and Management of Effective Governance and Administrative Services
- Ensure that the governance structures of the University, including Senate and Council, operate efficiently and in compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
2. Management of an Effective and Efficient Administration System
- Oversee the implementation of academic administration systems that facilitate the smooth operation of student registration, academic performance tracking, and graduation procedures.
3. Committee Administration Services
- Provide administrative support to various committees, including organizing meetings, taking minutes, and ensuring that decisions are well-documented and followed up.
4. Oversight of Legal Services
- Manage legal matters related to the administration and students, ensuring compliance with national laws and university policies.
5. Advisory and Support Services
- Offer advice and support to the University’s Council, sub-committees, and management team on governance and administrative matters.
6. Institutional Records and Archiving System
- Lead the maintenance of the University’s records and archiving systems, ensuring that records are properly stored, accessible, and in compliance with regulations.
7. Management of Human and Financial Resources
- Oversee the University’s human resources functions within the Office of the Registrar, and ensure effective management of financial resources and assets.
Minimum Requirements
The University of Mpumalanga is seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Educational Qualification: A Master’s Degree is required.
- Experience: At least 15 years of relevant experience in a university environment, with a minimum of 5 years in senior management positions related to academic administration and/or legal affairs.
